ABOUT ME
Lisa runs Owens Editorial Ink from her home near Seattle. She opened the business in 2002 after a decade of working in the publishing industry as a full-time in-house editor and part-time freelance writer-editor. At nearly 25 years into her career, she's had editorial input on thousands of published works — from concept to market.
Lisa works for publishers, businesses, and individual clients as a writer, editor, and editorial consultant specializing in the children's industry. She writes a wide variety of materials, including children's books (100 and counting), curriculum materials, essays, magazine articles, and book reviews. She also edits children's books of all types and adult titles in many genres, including historical fiction, contemporary fiction, reference, romance, thriller, business, home improvement, and cooking. Additionally, she teaches adult-ed classes in writing and editing.
As an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association since 2000, Lisa has served the organization as Chicagoland Chapter Coordinator (2002–2004); national Education Chair (2004–2012); national Facebook Page Manager (2009–2013); and Seattle Chapter Coordinator (2011–2014).
